Day 11: Oct 28, 2025 – Kathmandu Roaming
Altitude: 4,600 ft / 1,400 m
Distance - All day strolls all over town
Duration: ~7-8 hours sightseeing
“Spiritual Sights and Bustling Markets …”
After the high-altitude adventure, we returned to Kathmandu for a complementary guided sightseeing tour included in our trek package. The city hit us immediately—a riot of colors, sounds, and smells.
In a mini-van with our guide, we explored UNESCO World Heritage sites:
Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) – perched on a hill, its golden stupa glinting in the sun
Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square – architectural marvels brimming with history.
Kumari Ghar – the residence of the living goddess.
Boudhanath Stupa – spiralling prayer wheels and fluttering flags
Pashupatinath Temple – sacred and serene.
Along the way, some of us indulged in Rudraksha shopping, picking up little mementos to remember the spiritual aura of the city.
After freshening up at the hotel after sightseeing, Dilman led us to Gokarna House for a farewell dinner. Probably the only time we were disappointed, a bit though, during our stay in Nepal. The menu was a mix of Dal Bhath (not again…!!!) with chicken and fish. Nepali rice wine added a festive touch, and young local artists performed traditional folk dances, bringing warmth and laughter to the evening.
A quick detour to a club with live music followed, where our musician friend blended effortlessly with the crowd, jamming along, while the rest of us returned to the roof top lounge of Hotel Thamel, our favourite place, savoured dessert and shared the last quiet moments in Nepal together. The city buzzed around us, but we carried with us the calm, the stories, and the memories of an unforgettable trek.
Note to the Mountains: Day 11
Today you taught us that your influence
isn’t limited to altitude or stone—
you live in culture, stories,
and the hearts of those who dwell near you.
Even in Kathmandu, your presence lingered in
our awe and gratitude.
Forever grateful,
Your trekkers, signing off for the day.
