  • Trek Insurance: https://asc360.com
    • Ensure your policy includes high-altitude evacuation coverage above 5,000 m.
    • Some of us took coverage for our entire stay in Kathmandu, while others chose a 14-day policy. Thankfully, it was never needed.
  • Optional Add-ons / Spending Money in addition to trek package and flights :
    • Hot water - 500 nepali rupees per 1 litre. We got it filled in our Nalgene bottles
    • Hot showers - 500 to 1000 nr
    • Plug point / outlets - 500 nr per night
    • Laundry - 500 nr per kilo
    • Towel rental - 100 nr per bath towel (this could vary per tea house )
    • Helicopter - ~ 500 usd
    • Tip - 15 to 20 % for support staff
    • Private rooms - 150 USD for entire trek duration (this could vary per trek agency and per season)
    • Personal Porter - 288 USD for entire trek (this could vary per trek agency and per season)
  • Cash (ATMs are rare beyond certain points)
  • We were advised to carry Nepalese Rupees equivalent to about USD 20 per day for daily teahouse expenses & to keep $500 as emergency fund.
  • Money Conversion: We found it convenient to convert our money into NPR in Kathmandu itself to cover all expenses for the trek.
